Conference Portfolio
Based on its participation in international research over the last fifteen years (both as participants in - and evaluators and reviewers of research projects funded under national and European research programmes), IIMC has developed an extensive network of leading government, business and academic organisations involved in applied ICT research as well as national and international agencies funding ICT research and implementation projects.
With the support of the European Commission and national governments in Europe and Africa, IIMC has developed a portfolio of international technology research conferences that bring together senior representatives of leading government, business and education organisations from around the world to share knowledge, experience, lessons learnt and good practice.
IIMC ensures the highest level of international good practice as it relates to the double blind peer review process, edits the conference proceedings and prepares the submissions to IEEE Xplore. IIMC is responsible for designing and implementing content, policy and scope as well as marketing and logistics, ensuring that issues of concern to the Host Government as well as National Success Stories are showcased to provide a truly national flavour to each conference.
eChallenges and FutureNetworkSummit which take place in Europe and IST-Africa which takes place in Africa are
- Supported by the European Commission
- Technical Co-Sponsored by IEEE
- Hosted by National Governments
The Conference Proceedings for eChallenges , FutureNetworkSummit and IST-Africa are published in IEEE Xplore, on CD Rom, as well as in a Paper Repository on each Conference Portal. Each conference has an International Programme Committee (IPC) or Technical Programme Committee (TPC) responsible for a one or two stage, double blind peer review of all papers submitted in response to an Open Call for Papers to ensure quality.

IIMC worked closely with the Department of Communications, the e-Skills Institute and TISI over a two year period to design and implement a programme before and during the Summit that successfully engaged with almost 300 senior representatives of all key stakeholders (Government, Business, Education, Civil Society/Labour) to
- Raise awareness of current practices and development of eSkills in South Africa
- Identify solutions to gaps in current institutional and programmatic structures concerning eSkills development in South Africa and provide a means for all African stakeholders to benefit from this knowledge sharing
- Develop a Collaborative Framework for an initial National e-Skills Plan of Action (NeSPA) for South Africa
